DECEMBER 2024 UPDATE

The structural engineers reports has been received!  Whilst the outcome of the report was what was expected (Hall needs a new roof, and lintel on all windows), it's not going to fall down anytime soon!

The Garnier Hall Trustees will be having an extra ordinary meeting on Monday, 13th January 2025 to discuss the report and to determine the way forward for the hall.  The Hall Management Committee will require all the help it can get from the local community to get the Hall open again to the general public.  It's a space that is grately missed by the entire parish, and needs to be open as soon as possible.

If anyone has any questions, or queries relating to the closure of the Garnier Village Hall, please contact the Secretary / Treasurer - Christine Hewson at garniervh1925@gmail.com

NOVEMBER 2024 UPDATE

Unfortunately the hall closed its doors to the General Public on the 6th Septemeber 2024 whilst a structural engineers report was conducted.  As the Hall nears it's 100th year anniversay, some of the wear and tear from 99 years of use has taken its toll on the building.  Some 10 years ago, the tiles were replaced on the building, but unbeknown to the hall, the tiles were concrete, and the sheer weight bearing down on the hall's wooden frame could become unsafe.

The Hall Management Committee decided to instruct a Structural Engineer to compile a report on any potential damage, and advise on what needs to be done to recify this.  The Structural Engineer was on site on 13th September, and the report has been seen by a few of the Hall Management Commitee, but there are a few queries that need to be sorted before the report is deemed suitable for public viewing.  As the Hall Management engaged with a Structural Engineer, they needed to inform the Insurance Company, on doing so the insurance company withdrew their Public Liability Insurance with immediate effect, hence why the hall, the field and play area has been closed to the general public since September 6th.

Any further updates on the hall and engineers report will be published here, for you, the local resident to view.

It goes with saying, that the Hall will need all the help it can get from local grants, local tradesmen sand local businesses to bring it back up to it's glory days.  If you would like to get involved with the Hall Management Committee, or would like to lend your knowledge to the re-build fund, please speak to Peter Lotarius, Garnier Hall Trustee at peterlotarius@hotmail.com
